Reading for Charity
This term, Junior and Senior pupils were invited to take part in Readathon.
Readathon, which is run by the Read for Good charity, helps raise money to buy books for children’s hospital wards, as well as fund storytellers who visit read and tell stories to poorly children.
The community showed great generosity and support, and we managed to raise a whopping £540. We are particularly impressed by the efforts of Rielly T (SS) and Ivan T (JS) who, between them, raised an impressive £115. Both have been awarded with a book voucher to help celebrate their success.
Ms Hart, Teacher of English and Literacy Lead, said "We were so impressed by pupils’ engagement with this charitable cause. We all know that reading has a positive impact on our mental health and wellbeing. I can’t think of a more worthwhile cause where our pupils have been able to support children who are sick, away from family, friends, and school with the gift of a book and a storyteller."
Ivan said “I feel proud to have helped raise so much money for Readathon! To raise my sponsorship, I read books and magazines on my own and with my parents, continued reading every day at school, and I listened to Audible. It was easy!
To thank the school for our efforts, we have received a voucher from Read for Good to invest in more books for PGS.
