This week, a select group of Year 7 pupils came together for a ‘progress party.’ These are the pupils in the Year group who made the most progress across the first half of the Spring term, with respect to approach to learning and/or attainment grades. For some pupils, this is the result of sustained focus since day one with us, but for others, it is a demonstration of their commitment to improve and set new targets and expectations for themselves. All of these pupils have shown amazing commitment to their education.

Some top tips that they shared on how to sustain motivation and hard work consistently: ‘always have something to look forward to as a reward for your hard work. For me, this is Saturday sport.’ (Lucy A) I want to be successful and I know that working hard now will help me in the future.’ (Dylan H) ‘Once you start doing the right things, you just then do them all the time, you don’t have to think about it.’ (Shriyan P) and ‘Choosing the right people to work with and sit with makes a huge difference – it works well to have different team mates in lessons to your friendship group outside of lessons.’ (Frazer R and Archie B)

As Head of Year, one of the highlights of my role is celebrating success and progress with Year 7, so it was a real pleasure to be able to recognise these individuals, and I am very proud of them all: Emir K, Arnav G, Willa G, Archie E, Sam M, Lucy Al, Nick N, Dylan H, Frazer R, Archie B and Shriyan P.
