PGS Sixth Form ‘very good’ value for money in national report

Oxbridge PupilsIn an analysis of 1,200 independent schools across the country, The Telegraph rated the Sixth Form at PGS as being ‘very good’ value for money.

Schools were looked at in five groups, measuring the top grades in A Levels and GCSE examinations relative to current fees, with rankings then awarded as very good, good, fair, below average, and poor.

For Year 13 we were rated as ‘very good’, reflecting the high achievement of our pupils in their A Level examinations. Only 80 schools across the country received this rating for Sixth Form.

This ranking underlines the strength of our Sixth Form curriculum, our academic rigour and the commitment our pupils, and our staff, have in working to strive for the best outcomes at this important stage of education.

“I am very proud to see our academic achievements recognised,” said Mr David Wickes, Head at The Portsmouth Grammar School. “However, alongside this is all the work and enrichment that goes on in the earlier academic years of school to lay the ground for this success and outside the classroom. Across the whole school and curriculum, we want to enable our pupils to become strong and dedicated learners. This culminates in our Sixth Form where pupils can continue to extend their academic learning through our Ignite programme, by undertaking a PGS Extend or Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). They also learn what it is to be part of the world beyond school in our Community, Action, Workplace initiative. My ambition is for our pupils to achieve not only academically, which is of course extremely important, but to leave PGS as capable, rounded individuals.”
