Congratulations to Hattie in Year 10 and Alex in Year 12 who have recently been competing at the highest level for the age groups in squash tournaments both in the UK and in France.

Hattie has reported on their recent success:

English Junior Championships

I am very pleased with the way I played throughout the English Junior Championships to win the Girls Under 15s. It is one of the biggest tournaments that an English person can play in and it means a lot to win it and be the number one in England at my age group. I played 4 matches and didn’t drop a game, winning 3-0, 11-2, 11-5, 11-1 in the finals. Winning this tournament has secured me the Number 1 spot on the England team for my age group and I can’t wait to play in the Five Nations in April in Cardiff and the European team in May in Portugal!

My brother, Alex, also played well to get 5th place in the Boys Under 19s. It’s his first year in this age group and he only lost to the Number 1 seed who won the tournament. He had a very good match for the 5th-6th playoff and managed to win 3-1.

French Junior Open

I also recently played in the French Junior Open, Girls U15s and played very well to win it. It was my first European title, and I am very pleased to have won it. I had to play a French girl, a Dutch girl and a Belgium girl in the box stage. Then I played three English girls in the top eight and beat them all.  In the finals, I went 1-0 down but then sorted it out to win 3-1, 5-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-6.

Alex played extremely well to come second in the U19s. He beat his seeding and had some very tough matches. He lost to the Number 1 seed in the finals but was very tired. He also had a very good comeback from 2-0 down and match ball down to reach the quarter finals.
