PGS on the Road

New York, New York....
Thirty pupils had a fantastic experience on the bi-annual Drama trip to New York during half term. From their base near Central Park, the group attended two excellent Broadway shows, as well as participating in workshops specialising in music, dance and improvisation. The trip also encompasses NYC life and culture, so theatrical experiences were combined with visits to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, Chelsea Market, Soho and the High Line, Ellen's Stardust Diner, the Empire State Building, the Staten Island ferry, Grand Central Station and, of course, Central Park itself (dusted with snow). There was even time for a little NYC shopping. All the pupils had the time of their lives, and once the jet lag fades, they will have memories to treasure.
Bonjour Paris!
On 15th February 2025, many French students in Year 9 voyaged to Paris in France. On the night of arrival, we all went for a leisurely stroll around the area. Where we got to witness the night life in Paris and take mesmerising pictures of the city. The following morning began with a trip to ‘Le Petit Palais’ where I saw many historical statues and paintings. Then, we visited the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysees and of course, The Eiffel Tower - followed by stunning views of the city. We ended the day with a spectacular boat trip along the Seine. On the second day, we wandered around the Louvre where I saw the Mona Lisa, The Winged Victory of Samothrace and Venus de Milo. Next, my friends and I wandered around the beautiful town of Montmartre, including a trip around the Sacre-Coeur and of course, souvenir shopping! The whole trip was a once in a lifetime experience and we got to do so many different things!
Flying High!
The Careers Insight Trip to RAF Odiham was a fantastic opportunity for students to understand the amazing benefits a career in the armed forces, and particularly the RAF, can offer to a wide variety of professions. For example, RAF Doctors and Nurses can get their Tuition fees paid and a bursary to cover living expenses and is similar for Engineers and other degrees.
RAF Odiham is home to the RAF's Chinook fleet and we were able to tour 7th Squadron, the elite airmen who are constantly on call for various emergencies that may occur. We were able to walk around one of the Chinook helicopters and get an insight into how the four crew members work in various scenarios.
Our students were later given the opportunity to talk with Officers from various areas of the organisation and asked some fantastic questions, before we headed to see the sports facilities and witness their version of House Sports where all the Squadrons at RAF Odiham were competing in Dodgeball, in a very competitive environment.
It was a great trip, and we hope to organise another one for the next academic year.
