Welcome to PGS
With perfect timing, the skies cleared and enabled us to accompany our new pupils on their symbolic first visit to the Cathedral.
The pupils and parents were able to enjoy a poignant service, with each pupil being gifted an ancient stone to represent their new role as a permanent and integral piece of our school. With thought provoking addresses from Mr Wickes themed around growth and learning, beautiful singing from the choristers, led by our new Director of Music, Mr Goodwin, as well as a wonderful recollection of Year 7 from Amelie E, herself beginning her journey with us this time last year. It was, as always, a really special event. It was also wonderful to be able to involve Lara P and Jake K as the speakers, two of our new Year 7 community who bravely read parts of a prayer to the congregation.
The rain, by some miracle given the earlier downpours, held off and allowed our new Year 7 pupils to take their all important first steps through the arch, to be gifted a book mark and shake hands with Mr Wickes. History tells us that from this moment to the one where they march the other way, through their arch to the next chapter at the end of Year 13, will seemingly pass in the blink of an eye.
Our welcome event will have hopefully provided both parents and pupils some special memories to look back on.
